CERTIFIED: HD Makeup Studio and Academy + The 10 Most Important Things I Learned in Makeup School

May 7 to 17, 2012. Those were the days I attended the HD Fashion and Beauty Makeup Course at HD Makeup Studio and Academy. A lot of people have asked me why I went to makeup school and why I chose HD as my school.

Now to answer the first question. I initially wanted to learn more about makeup application and techniques and makeup itself. I always had this gut feeling that what we see in makeup tutorials in beauty blogs and YT are not correct (but some are good, too). I would always have something to say, or I would always have a nasty comment about how they apply makeup, but I cannot determine what's wrong. I just knew and felt that something is not right. Moreover, I also do not believe that makeup brands are what make the makeup. And since I'm a makeup addict, I wanted to know for myself what are the best types and brands to use, where to find them, and how to use them. And of course, makeup is my passion, that's why I wanted to bring it to another level. Take formal training.

REVIEW: Olay Total Effects Wet Cleansing Cloths

Not until I made the necessary switch to my current skincare, I was obsessed with Olay, especially with their Total Effects range. So when I needed to use a different moisturizer and cleanser because of my skin allergies that time, it was hard for me to let my Olay products go. Since I won't be using them for quite some time, I remember giving away two full bottles of OTE moisturizer to my sister last year, so as not to put them to waste. You know, it's not good to use too many products or different product brands on your skin, so I had to part with Olay.

But who said goodbyes are forever. It was this one fateful day that I was looking for a giant tub of my cold cream, that Olay and I met again.

In this form.

REVIEW: LUSH Mint Julips Lip Scrub

I scrub my face, my feet, my body, and my floor. But I never thought I would ever, ever need to scrub my lips. Have you? Well, I did and I'm glad I did and I will continually do so. =)

It's no secret here that I have problematic lips. I always mention that whenever I can, hahaha. =) So a friend once suggested that I do lip scrubbing. At first I thought, what the hell is that? So I went on searching for weeks and weeks for a good lip scrub out there, until I found this one.

GOODY Goodies: Bun Spiral, Modern Updo, Spin Pin Mini and Stay Put Elastics + Mini Tutorial

Hello everyone! How's your week so far? Mine's super busy again as usual. I finished makeup school last Thursday and our photo-shoot was truly a blast (photos soon!) And during the previous days I was literally bouncing back and forth to law schools until finally I made it to San Beda College of Law. I got in at the last minute and I was able to enroll today. Whew!

Anyway, here is a very long overdue post. I've been using these Goody stuff for quite some time now and I think it's high time that I review them.

DAYS 5, 6, 7: Cat's Eye, Avant-Garde, Bridal Makeup Looks (PART I)

The previous three days were the most toxic in makeup school. Hence, the lack of posts. I would always go home extremely tired and I would just fall asleep without realizing it. But it was all worth it because it was during these days that I learned a lot more, tested my limits and discovered that I can really be patient as well. haha. =)

Makeup school is 1% fun but 99% hard work, at least for me. The fun part includes my love and passion for makeup, my new found friends and new colleagues in the makeup industry, and the little breaks during class wherein I realize how stupid (forgive the word) I am when it comes to makeup application, that I end up laughing at myself. haha. =)

So let's go to Day 5 first. Our topic for that day was how to make The Cat's Eye. I am fond of using eyeliner on myself, but even if I've been doing it for so many years, I still cannot make it perfect. How much more if I'm gonna do it on another person?

When it comes to eye makeup application, one must know the basics very well. And when I say very well, I mean it. What you do on a normal eye, you cannot do it on prominent eyes, droopy eyes, etc. And that day, my model's eyes were not the easiest to do a cat's eye on.

Here she is.
