REBLOG AND REVIEW: MAC Studio Perfect SPF15 Foundation

I have recently purchased MAC Studio Perfect SPF15 Foundation. That was last month, I think. I was supposed to get MAC Studio Fix but for some reason the SA convinced me to get this one. Well, all I could say is that it's just oh-kayy.

First things first, I was expecting a lot from this new MAC foundie, which is apparently an exclusive Asian product by the way. You will just find little reviews about the product online, since it's not distributed worldwide. It's made in Japan and I don't understand why something made in Japan would cost this much for a foundation. The compact is sold separately, with a sponge in it, placed in a separate chamber, which for me is really nice. The compact's price is 650PhP. The foundation is sold at a whopping 2,100Php. So you get the whole package at 2,750PhP (US$ 62.5). Which is what, insanely priced. My advise is, for those who want to try MAC foundies for the first time, get the Studio Fix, not this one. It's quite painful for my purse. Hah! The Studio Fix is sold at 1,600Php only. But the Studio Perfect has a separate compact, which makes you just buy the refill on your next purchase. The Studio Fix does not. But it still does not justify the price. Hahaha.

I bought mine at Rustan's EDSA Shangrila. I wasn't really listening to the SA because my attention got distracted by a woman who was trotting along her Monogram LV Neverfull MM at the floor that time. Hahaha. The SA gave me NC35 which seems to be a bit dark on me. So I just took the set, paid and left. When I was in the cab, all I could say to myself was, I know I bought the wrong one this time. I didn't know that MAC cosmetics in the Philippines is not accepting product returns unlike other countries, so there's pretty much nothing I could do. I just had to convince myself to give this product a try.

Later that day, my MUA friend (who strongly suggests using the Fix too) told me that Trinoma recently opened a MAC stall. Which was a bummer because I went all the way to Shangrila to get one. I went to Trinoma because I was gonna buy a new tube of bb cream too, and there I talked to MAC's SA. I asked her what's the big difference between the Fix and the Perfect. She told me that the Perfect has UV (SPF 15), has Vitamin E benefits, and is refillable. For coverage, she said it's pretty much the same, medium to heavy, but I beg to disagree. Anyway she was really nice and her parting words were, the Perfect is really perfect. The Fix is just our bestseller. Sheesh. That's too much sales talk for me. Perfect is really perfect. Hah! If there's one good thing about all the things she said, is that MAC Trinoma is gonna stay there for good.

Coverage for me is just light to medium. Nothing more. It covers minimal flaws so if you need to cover a lot, say no to this one. It's good for touch ups and evening out your skin tone. I'm happy that it has sunscreen, SPF 15 which helps since UV here in Asia is pretty harsh. This for me is just a sheer pressed powder, not really a good foundation. It doesn't make your face look too matte. Doesn't cake as long as you use it with brush. I only dab with the sponge during touch ups. This one oxidizes over time. After about 2-4 hours it darkens on your skin. Oil control is not very good. I needed to retouch after 4 hours or so. I stay mostly inside the office, so it's quite impractical that I needed to retouch every so often. However, I did not break out using the Perfect. No clogged pores. But a few times, there's always this little "heat" feeling on top of my lip area when I do touch ups. Which I find weird. That happened about 2-3 times. And I got worried since I have sensitive skin. But there was no redness, just that "heat" sensation that goes away in a few. One more thing, since it's just light to medium coverage, it doesn't do well in covering my under eye circles.

There you go. I guess I won't repurchase the Studio Perfect considering that it's well, insanely expensive for a pressed powder. I'll just buy the Studio Fix next time and keep the Perfect's compact as remembrance. ^^

My over-all rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ out of 5♥

What do you think of this MAC product? Have you tried it too?

hello there. thanks for reading. i originally posted this review in my old blog i think late 2010 and i learned my lesson well. =) that is to never get distracted when buying makeup. =) i kind of regretted buying this one, i hope i bought a concealer and a fix instead that time. honestly, it still sits in my stash, unused. i would just like to keep the compact as remembrance because it's the first mac product i actually bought for myself. i don't see this in mac counters anymore though, did you just buy it recently? =)

Hi just purchased it......the s a recommended the product. I too was interested in getting the studio fx. ..... And it's soon expensive tool. I regret the purchase. It does oxidize on the skin. And no such thing as exchange here. I think they just get higher commission for selling this particular product. I feel a bit unhappy now....why do I always listen to those Sa I... I hate them! They r never honest! Especially in Asia.

Ripped off
